Task summary:
In this assessment, you are going to reflect on your in-classroom consulting work, which was your practicum (the work for a real organisation as outlined in the live brief, provided by your learning facilitator) and which has been presented to a client. You will analyse the work and tasks conducted, as well as the skills and attributes that you involved and developed in that process.
Context:
The world of work is changing and the demand for project based, fixed-term consulting work is growing. It is important to adapt to changing environments, learn new skills and display employability skills that are desirable by employers. Once we enter a work environment, we are expected to deliver high quality work in a timely manner. In order to improve, we need to be able to reflect on our performance and actions. In this assessment, you will reflect on your work and learning that occurred during this class, so you are better equipped for the workplaces of tomorrow.
Instructions:
The task is to develop a 1500-word self-reflection report on your practicum (your work for a client as outlined in the live brief) and the learning that occurred during this class. At the beginning of the term, you were encouraged to keep a "reflection journal", where you should record all your tasks, learnings and reflections related to the practicum. This document may now be very handy.
Your report should comprise the following elements:
• Short introduction to the business challenge outlined in the live-brief and a short introduction to the client.
• An overview of your approach to the solution of the challenge outlined in the live brief: from ideation and thinking process, brainstorming, research, client meetings and team discussions, if applicable.
• A summary of your role and contribution to the work-based project/practicum. Any evidence should be supplied in the appendix.
• A self-reflection on your engagement, communication and contributions to the project including project planning.
• A self-reflection on your experience:
o what attributes and skills were the most important for you in completing the tasks outlined in the live brief?
o what would you do differently the next time you work in a similar setting?
o what have you learned in this experience and what type of learner are you?
o which skills and/or attributes do you think will be useful in your next job(s)?
o which skills and attributes do you feel you need to develop further?
o what could you do to develop these or other necessary skills and attributes further?
You are required to produce a professional, well-organised, clear and coherent, independent report of 1,500 words that includes:
o Cover page ( with your Institution: Torrens University, subject code, your name, student ID, assessment due date, assessment title, your Learning Facilitator's name and the total word count) or attach the TUA Assignment Cover Sheet
o Executive Summary (not included in your word count)
o Table of Content (not included in your word count)
o Introduction
o Discussion section where you address assessment requirements
o Recommendations
o Conclusion
o Reference list (not included in your word count)
o Appendices (if applicable, not included in your word count)
