Course outcomes
Course outcomes associated with this unit are that graduates will:

Assessment requirements
Hurdle requirement
There is a hurdle requirement in this unit. The hurdle requirement is that students must attain a mark of at least 50% in the Final Exam / Final Major Assessment Task. A student's final mark is normally the sum of the marks obtained in all of the assessment tasks in the unit. Where a student does not meet the hurdle requirement, the maximum mark that may be returned for the unit is 48.
The hurdle applies to Task 3: Event Report.
Assessment tasks
Assessment Task 1 -
Details of Task: Working individually and/or in teams, this task centres on the Event & Project Management Standards (and Bodies of Knowledge) and their application. The activities will encompass one or all of the following:
1. individual quizzes made up a variety of questions pertaining to each weekly topic
2. in-class activities pertaining to each weekly topic.
Learning objectives assessed: This task tests learning outcomes:
1. examine, analyse and synthesise the concepts, principles, processes and practice of project management
2. apply and critically evaluate the project management techniques and decision tools within constrained, ambiguous and uncertain business environments
3. assess the interrelationship between organisational strategy, innovation and change with project management
4. enhance communication, interpersonal, research, problem solving and critical thinking capabilities.
Task 2 - Essay
Details of Task: This task centres on Event & Project Management Standards (and Bodies of Knowledge). Working individually, you are required to research and address the following components in an essay format (see Q-Manual):
1. Identify the different Event/Project standards, frameworks and processes
2. Compare and contrast these standards, frameworks & processes, and their application
3. Conclude your views of these standards, frameworks & processes, and their application

Learning objectives assessed: This assignment tests learning outcomes:
1. examine, analyse and synthesise the concepts, principles, processes and practice of project management
2. apply and critically evaluate the project management techniques and decision tools within constrained, ambiguous and uncertain business environments
4. enhance communication, interpersonal, research, problem solving and critical thinking capabilities.
Task 3 - Event Report
Details of Task: Working individually, you are required to attend an event in Melbourne during July or August and prepare a report on the event. For some ideas, check out the Frankston Events Calendar available online, or Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, or find out what is happening in your local community.
Your report should address the following components in a report format:
1. Setup: Charter, promotion and use of technology
2. Stakeholders: Identify the internal and external stakeholders for the event and create a stakeholder map
3. Site/venue suitability: Critique the chosen site/venue in relation to how well it is fit for purpose, e.g. consider site access, movement, congestion and use of space for people (& if relevant vehicles & services)
4. Risk: Create a risk matrix for this event (in a table format) identifying at least 15 potential risks that may affect this event and allocating them correctly in your risk matrix in relation to severity and consequences. You should include a variety of risk types.

Task 4 - Project Report
Details of Task: Working in a team of 3 students, you are required to select an event/project to develop throughout the semester. Your group is to choose one of the following options:
Option-1: Set up a project/event with a potential client
Option-2: Be a formal member of a local project/event
Option-3: Be a formal remote/digital member of a project/event.
Teams will be formed by your unit CE based on information provided by students via Moodle in weeks 1 & 2.
The required documentation is to include the following:
1. A document that encompasses at least the following information in a report format (see Q- Manual):
1. Setup: Charter, scope, stakeholder map, budget, schedule (Gantt chart)
2. Documentation/Plans: including the communication, quality, risk, OHS, and compliance plans
3. Report/Critique: an analysis for the project/event setup and documentation
4. Finalisation: a detailed conclusion & executive summary of key learnings and recommendations
5. Appendices: in addition to the materials above, other relevant material, must include dated meeting notes for both your team and with your client's team (eg using TeamGantt)
2. Presentation to your client / class - presentation slides are to be uploaded to Moodle prior to presentation in Week-11.
