PPMP20011 Contract and Procurement - Central Queensland University
You are assigned the tasks which assess your knowledge gained about different facets of contract and procurement management.
Tasks
There are two types of tasks, namely tasks for the written assessment and tasks for the peer evaluation (assessment) as per details given below:
Part A - Written Assessment (Report):
You need to submit a business report in Word format into Moodle in Week 6. You are to complete the following tasks using the case study provided on Moodle website (Refer Case Study document):
• Critically analyse and propose the most suitable procurement route for the project (case study). You will be given the characteristics of the client, project limitations, constraints etc.
• Justify the chosen procurement route and explain why it is the most suitable to make the project successful.
• Advise on the best suitable contractual agreements for parties involved to compliment the procurement option.
• Critically analyse and propose the contract type and explain why it is the most suitable to make the project successful. Also discuss the risks associated and the key components which must be covered in the selected contract.
• Your report should include thorough analysis with supporting evidence and discussion.
Part B - Peer Assessment:
The peer assessment aims to enhance your understanding and allows you to learn from this assessment by exchanging knowledge with your peers (10%) and consider the following:
• You are required to assess one submission by your peers which will be randomly and anonymously assigned to you.
• You will be asked to submit your evaluation report along with the constructive feedback and comments.
• Failing to submit the evaluation report leads to zero grade for this part.
• You will conduct the assessment based on the assessment criteria and a marking tool will be provided.
• Your evaluation will be checked, moderated, and monitored to ensure the quality of the feedback and the peer assessment.
Layout of the Written Report
Written report on the case study should be organised using the following headings and guidelines.

• Title (Cover) Page with clear details of unit name, student number and name, lecturer & tutor names, submission date etc.
• Introduction
» Introduction must clearly define the aims of the report.
» Introduction must identify the project objectives and how the recommendations ensure Value for Money.
• Procurement Strategy and recommended CQU team
» Map the factors and characteristics of the case study (project) with the factors to be considered for the best procurement strategy.
• Procurement Route
» Analyse the case study requirements along with constraints, givens, exclusions, assumptions and limitations.
» Propose the post appropriate route for each Project and explain why proposed route is suitable to make the project successful.
» You need to address a group of factors including but not limited to the following: Project schedule, cost, quality, etc.
• Contract Type
» Propose the most appropriate contract type for each Project along with your justification based on the procurement routes you have chosen above.
» You need to address a group of factors including but not limited to the following: Project schedule, cost, quality, etc.
• Risks associated with the proposed routes and contract types
» Identify, analyse, and assess the risks associated with your proposed route(s) and contract type(s) for both the owner and the contractor?
• Budget (for one Project)
» Tabulate your recommended budget and list separately your assumptions
• Conclusion (optional)
» Provide a summary of your report
• References (list the references along with their in-text citations)
