Assignment - Reading Response

Student will be responsible for 500-word (two-page double-spaced maximum) reading responses. These responses should be critical syntheses that engage all the readings and course material. These responses are meant to encourage students to develop critical and genuine insight into the course material. They will be judged based on their level of detail.

In crafting responses, students should attempt to bring out common elements across course material, question claims, or move us to consider, as a class, the course themes and objectives in a critical light. Good responses must contain the following three elements (in no particular order):

1. Three direct quotes taken from a reading or piece of media. All three citations cannot come from the same source.

2. Critical engagement with classroom discussion.

3. A synthesis that draws from multiple media.

Quotes must be cited properly in MLA, Chicago, AP, APA or whatever style the student chooses.
