Examine the organisations innovation history, the present level of innovation activities, and future innovation requirements.
Identify an organisation of your choice (an organisation that you are familiar with). You are now required to conduct an innovation audit that examines the organisation's past, present and future innovation activities and capabilities.
Learning Outcome 1: Apply an evaluative approach to a range of business data, sources of information and appropriate methodologies in identifying drivers of innovation within a business and its environments;(lots in the lectures you have already had)
Learning Outcome 2: Actively engage in the identification of a new product/service for a chosen organisation and identify the key activities required for its successful development;(in the lectures)
Learning Outcome 3: Conduct an innovation/organisational development audit appropriate for the introduction of the new product/service. (Do the audit)
Your task is to conduct an innovation audit of the selected organisation to examine the
1. organisation's innovation history;
2. the present level of innovation activities; and
3. future innovation requirements.
The audit will factor in wider macro and competitive environment factors as well as upstream and downstream supply chain participants.
Structure of report
Introduction:
A- Purpose of the report & structure - (up to 200 words)
1. The scope of the audit that you will be conducting
2. What your research and the report aims to establish
The main body of the report:
B- The Organization & Industry Overview -(up to 250 words)
1. Brief background to the organization that demonstrates its position in the industry/sector
2. Refer to the business' size, operations, market base and revenue generation scale
3. It will be helpful to include a comparative ranking of the organization in this section- how it is performing in comparison with other companies
Key Points:

C- The Organization and its Innovation History - (up to 350 words)
1. Review the organization's past performance to establish how innovative it has been, what are the drivers of innovation and how successful the innovation processes have been.
2. Include a macro and microenvironment analysis using at least one of the following models/frameworks: PESTLE, SWOT, Porter's 5 forces.
D- The Organization's existing Innovation Performance and Capabilities- (up to 350 words)
1. Use the Cranfield method. Analyze the results using the 5 parameters for your chosen company (strategy, ideas generation, prioritization, implementation, and people/culture/organization).
2. Using the innovation model, identify what type of innovation occurs within the organization ( Radical/Incremental/Disruptive/Sustaining)
3. Discuss how successful the present innovative processes are occurring and link that with the PESTLE/SWOT analysis in the previous section
4. This section requires a critical review of the organization's innovative approach- not just a description of the activities. You can include the business model approach to innovation- whether it is based on adapting, transforming, reinventing, or simply defending the present position.

E- The Industry in 2022 (up to 350 words)
1. Identify the product or service that the company is working on; linking it with the innovation model analysis and establish whether the innovative capabilities are present to support the innovation plans
2. The models that can be used in this section can include: Deming's PDCA cycle, Cyclic innovation model, Nonlinear innovation, Rapid innovation model or Lean innovation model.
F- Conclusion (up to 150 words)
The conclusion should have a concise but critical review of the organisation's performance, based on your research. You should identify the areas that need to be considered.
G- References:
For a report of 1500 words, a preferable reference list would include between 10-15 references.
