BUMGT2601 Managerial Skills
Project Report
Your group report requires:
o Students must choose a case study from one of the topics covered this semester. Case studies can be found at the start of each relevant chapter in the course textbook.
o The report must be approximately 2000 words in length and presented in report format with appropriate APA referencing citing a minimum of five (5) academic references. [Please Note: that websites are not considered as academic references and won't be counted].
o Report format is required which includes a Title page, an Executive Summary (approximately an additional 10% of the word count), a Table of Contents, Section numbers and Headings, Page numbers and a Reference List.
o The first section of the report should provide a case study summary and overview of the identified issue(s) within the case.[Please Note:this is your own analysis of the case. DO NOT simply answer the case questions in the textbook].
o The second section of the report should provide a critical evaluation of relevant theory(s) and how these relevant theory(s) are being used to address the issue(s) identified in the case.
o The third section of the report should provide a detailed description of at least three managerial skills required to address the case issue(s) and an explanation of how these address the issues.
o The fourth section of the report provides a conclusion and reflection of the learnings acquired in the analysis of the case.
o Any additional materials relating to your report (eg: surveys) should be scanned in as an appendix.
o Please note: The Reference List must show the (minimum) five cited academic sources in your report using APA style. Academic sources are text books and journal articles from the library databases, websites are not considered academic sources and will not be counted.
Group Presentation information:
The Group presentation requires students to present the group report submitted in week 7. The presentations may be scheduled for weeks 7 & 8 depending on the number of groups.
Some points to consider for the group presentation are:
- Your group presentation requires:
o A professional standard for presentation.
o A clear introduction and conclusion.
o All speakers introduced.
o A concise overview of the case study and identification of key issues.
o A theoretical analysis of the identified case issues. Citation of appropriate academic sources evident (Use APA style).
o A skill demonstration that engages the audience and illustrates at least one key issue identified.The skill demonstration will relate to the topic area and should engage the class and demonstrate that particular skill.
o A reflection on the learnings acquired from the case study analysis. This must include a reflection from each group member.The reflection will be based on the group experience and outline what knowledge the group has gained about working together in this group. This is another example of gaining self-awareness through a reflective process
o Please note: The Reference List must show the (minimum) five cited academic sources in your report. Academic sources are textbooks and journal articles from the library databases.
