Description of "Critical analysis of a research paper" Assessment

Overview:

In this individual assessment, you will be tasked with finding a research paper and performing a critical analysis of that research paper. You should look for the paper on Google Scholar and the research paper uses the Open University Learning Analytics (OULAD) dataset. Additionally, the research paper should be published from the year 2018 to 2024.

Requirements and general marking criteria:

The analysis report is marked over 30. The report should be between 500 and 700 words in length, and submitted separately in pdf format. The purpose of this assignment is to develop your ability to look for research papers, to critically evaluate research papers and engage with the concepts and ideas presented within them.
Your analysis report should be structured around three main headings:

Journal, publisher and datasets (20%): You are required to identify the journal name and publisher and date of publication of the research paper. Additionally, you need to identify datasets and the data sources that are used in the research paper. Additionally, you need to provide the descriptions and overview of the datasets.

Analyse (20%): In this section of your analysis, you should examine how the structure and language of the paper contribute to its overall meaning. You should consider what research methods have been used, and how effectively they have been implemented. This section should also highlight any notable or interesting aspects of the paper's methodology.

Interpret (20%): The third section of your analysis should consider the significance of the research that has been conducted in the paper. You should discuss any significant contributions the research makes to the field or topic, and explain why this work is important and relevant.
