Create an infographic that informs the reader about crime statistics and prevention methods using technology

Using the crime data provided (each student will be provided with individual data), develop simple statistical analyses and illustrate them using the graph functions in Excel.

What to do:

Step 1:
Develop interesting and creative ways to display this data using data visualization techniques (all using Excel 2016 only) . You will execute 3 analyses of the data:

Crime Analysis 1: A line graph to compare the trends for the three cities (over time).
Crime Analysis 2: Appropriate scatterplots to identify if there is any relationship between any two types of crime.
Crime Analysis 3: Create an appropriate 3D map in Excel that demonstrates activity data geographically.

Step 2:
Provide an appropriate and clear explanation of the data portrayed. Explanation must be clear and associated to each graph (see the marking criteria) .

Step 3:
You will also creatively illustrate and explain a new and innovative computer-based crime prevention technique for the crimes demonstrated in the template below. In other words, what technologies can be used to prevent/reduce the crime rates (see the marking criteria).

Step 4:
Create the infographic:
Your Infographic must be divided into 7 sections (refer to page setup for the slide size below and the layout)

More creative and innovative technologies will gain higher marks. Please don’t copy paste the same solution for each crime type. Use diagram, pictures, tables to make things more clear. Regularly visit the FAQ section in Assignment 1 folder. Be creative.

If you describe an existing technologies AS IS, as your solution for any crime type, THIS WILL NOT COUNT. HOWEVER, if you properly combine existing technologies with new and upcoming innovative technology solutions, that could be acceptable. Refer to Excel Workbook - Semester 1, check your cities - Assignment 1 Data.xlsm. You can find cities allocated to you under the “Student-Cities” worksheet. The corresponding crime statistics for each city can be found in the same file under the “City-Crime-Data” worksheet. If you don’t use cities allocated to you, we can not mark the assignment and it will be considered as zero. Furthermore, if we find any evidence of plagiarism, it will be reported as an academic misconduct. Once you have created your graphs in Excel (or other medium), you will copy them to a single (portrait oriented – like this one) PowerPoint slide (refer to layout further below in this presentation) Provide an appropriate and clear explanation of the data portrayed.
