The crime of prostitution is one of the most well known "victimless" crimes. There are many who would argue that it is not, in fact, victimless. Many say that even though the prostitute is soliciting the john, she/he is victimized because their life circumstances drove them to this industry. From that perspective they could be seen as victims.

The johns are not typically considered victims, but their families and spouses in particular are potentially victims. They of course suffer from the choice the john made, but they may also contract an illness as a result. In addition, society is frequently seen as a victim as well, as the act of prostitution can bring down an entire community.

So then, why has prostitution been legalized in a small area in Nevada? What impact has regulating that industry had?

Consider whether you think that prostitution should be legalized. Is that the direction we are moving in as a society? Is it morals that are standing in the way of legalization? If so, should what is?
