This is an environmental ethic concern, it is legal for oil drilling operations to use hydraulic fracturing. They are often targets of angry protesters in the communities around the drilling. The reason is because the communities believe that fracturing causes earth quakes, damaging the areas surrounding the drilling. Earth quakes seem to be getting larger and more often, causing structural damages.
