Photoshop Assessment - Practical
Task 1
During the process of this assessment you will be required take a number of photograph images.
You are required to use a digital camera to gather those resources.
The definition of digital device can be as simple as a mobile device or DSLR camera
1.1 Create a spreadsheet. In this spreadsheet the capabilities of the digital device including:
• Camera device used to capture source footage.
• Storage Capacity device
• Battery size of device
• File format Captured from device
• Flash capabilities of device
• Resolution captured from device
• Size and type of memory of device
• Shutter speed of device
• White balance features (if any) of device
• Auto or manual setting used
• Lens (wide angle, telephoto) used in capturing images
If these options are not available on your device note in your document
1.2 Save spreadsheet as Task 3.2. and prepare to submit for review
Task 2
create a movie poster
You are employed by a post-production house called Digital Creative. This production house is involved in creating number digital projects, which include post production work, adverting design work, and Illustration artwork.
Los Lombok is a Film Production company that is just about to complete a number of Films that require some compositing posters for promotional work.
You have been asked to create one of the following Film Posters
i/ Genre horror: Movie name "Dead and buried" A man wakes up and relies he is buried alive in a coffin.
ii/ Genre action: Movie name "speed machine" Story about a brother and sister that compete for top honors in the motor sports world
iii/ Genre Romance/Drama: Movie Name" Lost and forgotten" Story about a plane crash where only two survivors fight for survival in the Amazon.
For your final design, review the Principles and Elements of Design to understand some of the principles that go into making successful creative and inspirational work.
(The term camera used can range from mobile device to professional HD device, you are not assessed on the particular camera you have available to complete the requirements)
2.1 For this assessment you will be required to meet the following creative requirements
2.1.1 Artwork document size
• 1056-pixel width
• 1632-pixel height
2.1.2 Artwork Resolution size
• resolution 75px
2.1.3 Photograph images
For this assessment you are required to use at least 3 original images in your artwork.
These Original images are to be taken on a camera device.
(You may use more than the 3 images that is required in the assessment)
One of the original images must be a photo of yourself.
2.1.4 Design Style
The final artwork should consider the following design principles
• balance
• emphasis
• movement
• perspective
• proportion
• scale
• unity.
The final artwork should consider the following Typographical design principles
• alignment
• fonts and typefaces
• kerning
• leading
• point and size
• serif or sans serif
• tracking.
The final artwork should consider the following visual design principles
• colour
• form
• line
• shape
• texture
• tone.
Task 3
Asset Gathering
3.1 Take all of the necessary photographic photos that are required for the project
3.2 Once completed move images to project folder and review images to see if creative objections have been met.
Task 4
Project Building
4.1 Open Photoshop and set up file in accordance to information in Task 2
4.2 Import all assets in project for the commence of creative
4.3 Commence to the creative process
4.4 During this process consider the following as noted in task 2
• visual design principles
• Typographical design principles
• Principles and elements of design
4.5 Demonstrate the use of Photoshop by considering the following tools
• Layer
• Layer styles
• Blending modes
• Transparencies
• Masking
• Effects
4.6 Review work to see if you have the creative principles and elements of design
4.7 Create a screen dump (s)of your final work in Photoshop. This screen dump is required to show the following attributes
• Layers used
• Effects or transformations
• Layer Styles
• Blending modes
4.8 Save Screen dump(s) as Task 4.7 and prepare to submit for review
Task 5
Final File Format
5.1After completing task 4 save Photoshop file as final work and prepare to submit.
5.2 After completing task 4 export your file in jpg format (less than 2mb in size)
5.3 Save JPG as final work and prepare to submit for review
Task 6
Submission of all for review
6.1 Once you are happy with your work submit the following files for marking
• Task 3.2 spreadsheet
• Task 4.7 Screen dumps
• Task 5 Photoshop and final jpg files
