Option 1: Creative Destruction

In the lecture, you heard some examples of creative destruction (Netflix for example). Find a creative destruction example of your own. Justify its level of destruction using evidence and data. This may include (but is not limited to) the number of jobs lost, the number of stores that have gone out of business, etc. Put together a convincing argument of why the example you've found is the MOST destructive.

Ideas and evidence should be original. In your opinion, is the destruction you found evidence of a good thing or a bad thing? Why or why not?

Option 2: China and Technology Transfer

Technology transfer has been a matter of great debate between China and its trade partners (especially the US). Who has benefited and who has suffered over the past 30 years or so from technology transfer between developed nations and China? Where do you see this issue going?

Primary posts should be three good paragraphs. Demonstrate that you understand the issue of technology transfer and clearly outline winners and losers. You may want to include a discussion of how this issue has changed over time as China has developed and where it is going in the future. You might also want to address how this impacts current trade talks between the US and China. How about the WTO? What might they have to do with it?
