Question: You are asked to engage in one creative activity in which you will "make the case" for a course concept of your choice. You can choose a concept we already covered in the course or look into future topics. Regardless of your choice to make a commercial or write a blogpost or op-ed article, you will need to "sell" an HR idea. The purpose of this assignment is to allow you to investigate and reflect on a topic/concept in depth. A successful outcome reflects a balance between demonstrating course knowledge and your unique input; in other words, you need to draw from knowledge and construct new ideas/conclusions - whether theoretical or practical or both.
No matter which type of assignment you choose, you are encouraged to add visual/graphic aspects in order to effectively present arguments or data.
It should be THREE to FOUR pages long (double spaced). Choose the outlet it is designed to be written for. For example, you could write a blog post for Harvard Business Review on an HR topic of your choice where you debate, rebuke or debunk, or promote an idea. There are countless examples to choose from and you will make yourself an expert by researching the topic and providing a new lens to help guide others. Reference course materials and when applicable, outside articles from reputable sources. Do not use external sources as a crutch, build off of course concepts and create your own ideas/mini theories/application. Please do not repeat what has been written or discussed in other articles, the purpose is to offer your own perspective.
Relevance of topic/concept, level of interest created. Advocate for the topic's importance.
Accurate application of course material and/or additional relevant sources - how well your work incorporates pertinent information from the course accurately
Creativity and originality. The extent to which you are creating new ideas/arguments/theory, and in the case of the commercial, also your implementation is creative
The quality and clarity of your arguments, how well they address the topic. Also, in the paper, how well developed your arguments are, the extent to which they provide necessary details; in the video, the quality and clarity of visuals, their connection with the content.
How well you maintain focus
