Creating a S.M.A.R.T. Goal
A goal without a plan that you ACT on is just a wish.
Identifying goals and making them S.M.A.R.T. helps you "create a plan," measure your success, and give you a target completion date. You can add E.R. to your S.M.A.R.T. goals to Evaluate your success and then Revise your goals. This should be an ongoing process throughout your academic career, work-life and personal life.
Employers often use S.M.A.R.T. goals with their employees to help create a plan to improve or move up in the workplace. You may want to use this with your employees!
Talking about S.M.A.R.T. goals will help you discuss your career goals during interviews when asked: "Where do you see yourself in 1 year or five years?"
