Assignment:
As you continue through this course, you have been, and will continue to be, practicing different nail treatments (and eventually skin treatments) and photographing them for your portfolio.
A portfolio is very important for those working in various service industries because it allows clients (and potential clients) to see just how amazing you are at providing the services that you specialize in.
While your current portfolio may be fairly small at this point, don't worry-one day, you will have a portfolio that is bursting with examples of all of your amazing, hard work!
And just to help give you a taste of all the possibilities that lay ahead of you, both for your portfolio and your career, you will be creating a 'hypothetical' portfolio for this lab.
Step 1:
Start exploring various images and photographs of nail enhancements and manicured nails that inspire you, speak to you, or pique your interest in some way.
Collect/save 10 different images or photographs of nail enhancements or manicures that you would love to learn how to do and be proud to include in your portfolio one day.
For any enhancements or manicures that you choose where it is not obvious from simply looking at the photograph how the 'look' was created, do a bit of research to try and find instructions or a description on how the nail 'look' was achieved.
Step 2:
Once you have chosen ten photographs/images of nails that you would be proud to call your own creations one day, it's time to put together your 'faux portfolio.'
Using a slideshow presentation program, you will create two slides for each of the nail photographs that you have chosen:
1. The first slide will include the photo/image and a title for the look (that you create)
2. The second slide will include a reflection on the photograph including:
- Why did you choose this photograph/nail 'look'?
- What is involved with creating this 'look'? What type of nail enhancement do you think was used?
Its for cosmetology class
- How difficult do you think the nail 'look' would be to achieve?
- A link to where you found the photograph
