Question

The six rights of medication administration were created to ensure the safety of our patients. These rights include the right drug, dose, documentation, patient, route and time ((McCuistion et al., 2023). Failing to include even one of these rights could lead to something as serious as the death of a patient. Consider a nurse that is advised to prepare IV epinephrine administration for Mr. White in room six. Mr. White presented with hypotension and was prescribed IV epinephrine. However, he was transferred to room ten down the hall for a better view. In his place, Mr. Johnson was admitted to room six with extreme hypertension to be monitored. Mr. Johnson fell asleep in his room. This all took place as the nurse was busy retrieving and confirming the right drug, dose, route, and time.
