ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY
ASSIGNMENT:
The Types of Resources Needed for the AB and Essay Annotated Bibliography
Instruction
1) You are responsible for finding 8 SECONDARY, reliable sources for your argument. (DO NOT USE GOOGLE, WIKIPEDIA, SPARKSNOTES, CLIFFSNOTES, ENOTES, OR OTHER SITES LIKE THESE.). See the library links posted for you in Blackboard AND refer to the resources outlined in the Reading List.
2) Determine what kind of source you have (an article from a journal, a chapter from a book, a magazine article, an interview, etc.) so that you may create a Works Cited entry for your source. Use the Owl at Purdue (link in Handouts and Resources folder and in this folder) to create your AB. *Note on using generators: they are always wrong! If you use one, you will need to go through it and correct it
3) Once you have your 8 secondary sources, do the following for each of them: In a Word document with an appropriate MLA heading, create the Works Cited entry. Write a summary of the article. This should be a paragraph in length.
In this summary, be sure to include relevant information, including the author's thesis. DO NOT directly cite anything from your source; the summary should be in your own words based on your understanding of the source.
The last sentence of this summary should include whether you can or cannot use this source for your argument and why. Once all paragraphs are written for each entry, be sure alphabetize them in the final document. Entries in the AB are not numbered or bulleted Though you are using the Works Cited guidelines, for this assignment, the title is: Annotated Bibliography
