Homework: Honesty Service and Empathy Foundations of Leadership Essay
Foundations of Leadership Theory Final Concept Map and Personal Leadership Philosophy
Situation:
John Dewey once said, "We do not learn from experience...we learn from reflecting on experience." Now that you have had a chance to "experience" many of the different leadership philosophies, theories, models, and styles, it is time to reflect upon if, and if so how, your conceptualization of leadership has evolved and how that influences your personal leadership philosophy.

Your personal leadership philosophy is the way you see yourself as a leader and should focus on how you want to lead now and in the future. Leadership philosophies can, and probably should, change as you grow to understand yourself within the context of leading. Reflection is critical to this change. Throughout the semester you have taken a number of leadership assessments that should have given you some insight into who you are as a leader. Now it is time to reflect upon the results of those assessments and incorporate them into your personal leadership philosophy.

Task
For this homework, you will create a revised concept map based on your synthesis of leadership concepts as you now view them. You will use your revised concept map and anything you learned about your leadership preferences, behaviors, and styles over the course of the semester to describe your leadership philosophy providing support from the appropriate theory(ies). Your philosophy should stem out of your reaction to deliberate reflection to the formal study of leadership throughout the course and the results of the various assessments taken throughout the semester. This reflection should incorporate what you learned in the course this semester as well as how you believe what you have learned will impact your leadership practice now and in the future. Your personal leadership philosophy should demonstrate higher level critical thinking skills such as connecting ideas, theories, evaluating, drawing implications, and considering multiple perspectives or points of view.
At a minimum, this homework should include: (i) your preliminary concept map, (ii) your revised concept map, and (iii) your personal leadership philosophy. Be sure in your personal leadership philosophy to address the following:
1)	Major concepts in your leadership philosophy
2)	Explanation of the theories providing the foundation for the proposed philosophy
3)	Summary of your leadership philosophy.
