Create a plan for personal development as a strategic leader ( I am last semester of my master)
1. Identify and collect relevant data
a. Sources: performance appraisals, relevant feedback at work, instrument-based assessments related to leadership, current leadership challenges, knowledge of self, knowledge from others.
b. Self-assessment tools in Becoming a Strategic Leader. A comprehensive list of strategic skills is " Strategic Thinking, Strategic Acting, and Strategic Influencing " which you can use to summarize and compare the data from all the assessments.
2. Sort the data into SWOT categories and summarize your findings, you can summarize your finding by including the topics like:
a. Strengths (strategic thinking, strategic acting, strategic influencing?)
b. Weaknesses (areas of reduced effectiveness ”thinking, acting, influencing?)
c. Opportunities (situations that may arise at work, school, or in your community that could help you improve your effectiveness)
d. Threats (threats that exist at work, school, or in your community that may prevent or challenge your long-term success as a strategic leader)
3. Determine and describe where you want to go in terms of your strategic leadership.
4. Identify or create strategic drivers and objectives that will serve as your roadmap (a numbered list is appropriate here).
5. Describe ways in which you will check your progress (these can be included with each of your drivers/objectives).
