A lot of our material this week focused on motivation and how to motivate others. This assignment will help you identify what motivates you. Address the following questions based on your experience. Remember that you do not have to be in a management position to be a leader.
Create a Leadership Timeline: Describe your leadership journey, reflect on your passion and purpose. Has this changed or evolved over time? If so, describe the change/evolution.
Accountability: Do you hold yourself accountable? If so, what types of things do you do to accomplish this? Who else holds you accountable, and how? How do you gain feedback? Is your feedback inclusive; meaning do you seek feedback from both supervisors, subordinates, and peers?
Observation: What do you see in other leaders that you find both admirable and unsettling? Explain why you find the qualities admirable and unsettling. This can be either someone you know or someone you look up to from a company, in the media, etc., and it may not be the same person.
Assess Your Credibility: Take an objective view of yourself from the perspective of how others see you. Be honest, part of growth is celebrating your strengths and identifying your areas of opportunity. Describe your strengths, and create a strategy to address your areas of opportunity.
Mentoring: Do you have a mentor? If so, describe the relationship. If not create a plan for finding one. Do you mentor others? If so, describe what you do to support others in reaching their goals. If not, identify some ways that you can support others in their growth (hint - look at your strengths from the ‘observation' section).
Your paper should be sufficient in length to fully address the question(s) presented, written at the college level, adhere to APA guidelines, and include a reference list. Any sources used must be cited properly, including the online assessment, using in-text citations and a references page.
