Module - Interaction Design
Module description:
In this module, you will explore the topics of interaction design and interactive videos, so that you are able to:
? Create interactive multimedia lessons based on a sound understanding of interaction design principles
? Identify the educational usage of interactive videos
? Determine criteria that make interactive video an effective learning tool
The module in a nutshell:
When you are reviewing the learning materials in this module, try to identify principles that you can apply when designing and developing your interactive multimedia learning solutions. The principles that you will explore are applicable to a variety of multimedia learning solutions including videos, websites, games and applications.
In short, they are applicable to any multimedia product that requires interaction between a user and an interface. Some important things to keep in mind when designing and developing interactive multimedia learning solutions include:
? Determining how the interaction will better achieve your learning goals
? Making sure that the technology requirement suits your targeted audience
? Providing clear instructions, so learners know what is expected from them, and how to navigate
? Finding the appropriate balance between information, simplicity and appeal
? Providing feedback based on learners' actions, so they know if they are doing the right thing and how far they are from achieving the instructional goal
? Applying multimedia learning principles, design thinking principles and storytelling principles as appropriate.
Find and share a resource that expands on the learning materials covered in this module (you can choose something about interaction design, writing learning objectives or creating storyboards). Examples of resource include blog posts, instructional videos, journal or magazine articles, web pages, or even a book section.
After posting the resource, you must comment on it in 200 - 300 words. In your comment, you must succinctly summarize the key points of the resource, you must explain how this resource expands on or elaborates on what was discussed in course learning materials, and you must tell your colleagues what you learned from it and how they can benefit from it when designing multimedia lessons.
