A srudy in southern california claimed that the mean commute time for all employees working in orange county exceeds 40 minutes. this figur is higher that what was the mean commute time estimated in previous studies cnducted in the past. the plan is to test this claim using an alpa level of 55 and a sample size of n=100 commuters. the sample mean for the 100 commuters is equal to 43.5 minutes and based on previous studies, the population standard deviation is known to be 8 minutes. creates a hypothesis test to determine if the mean commute time does in fact exceed 40 minutes.
