Working with clients who have experienced abuse or trauma can have an impact on any helping professional. Having a Self-Care plan is crucial to create a healthy working environment and to protect against secondary or vicarious trauma. To complete this paper, students will conduct an in-depth literature review on secondary victimization or vicarious traumatization, starting with the literature included on the syllabus. The literature review should focus on how social work practitioners may be impacted when working with survivors. From the literature review, create a personalized Self-Care plan that includes using the literature to support your thoughts and results in a creative Self-Care plan that is relevant. The plan should address your emotional, spiritual, physical, and financial well-being.
