One of the more difficult things to do in health care is to create business strategies around the business of caring. Many feel that this diverse product creates difficulties in formulating and executing effective business strategies as we struggle with the emotional and ethic contexts of providing care to those who need it and finding the financial resources to fund that care. To that end health care business strategy units assist with the determination of return on investment predictions when new health care business lines are being considered. Improvements in health care from a business and clinical perspective are necessary but must be done with care and attention to both facets of the organization - the financial and the delivery of care (Anderson & McDaniel, 2000). In order to accomplish these dual objectives the business strategy unit must have strong, visionary leaders that will provide insight and guidance to the organization.
