Team Project
Project Directions and Summary:
Directions: You will use the following information to create an original hotel reservation form. Please read the specifications carefully. The completed workbook should contain six worksheets: documentation sheet (including a list of all defined names and their locations, and a list of all macros, a brief description of their purpose, and their shortcut keys), lookup tables worksheet, original reservation form, two test forms, and a summary sheet.
Project Summary: Design an original usable sales Hotel reservation form that customers can use to input their personal information and reservation information. The completed form must fit on one page. Think about all the fields that will be needed on the form from both a customer and hotelier (hotel manager) view point. Also remember that not all of your customers will be computer literate or know how to enter information electronically-make your form user friendly. (Suggestion: take time to research the layout and design features of other reservation forms).
The tables below must be used in the project for room location and special accommodation purposes!
Complete the following to accomplish this task:
1. The documentation sheet must include the following statement and each group members name below it: By entering my name below, I attest that this is my own and original work, completed for this assignment, for this class, and the current semester. If it is determined that this is not original work completed for this assignment, a grade of "0" will be assigned and the appropriate paperwork for violating academic integrity will be completed. A grade of "0" will be assigned to any project that does not have a first and last name typed on the documentation sheet.
2. The finished original reservation form must fit on one page only. Make sure that all worksheets are labeled correctly (use the name tab) and submit your finished project by the due date.
3. Protecting formulas, functions and worksheets is required, but do NOT use a password. (Hint: do not prevent your customers from entering personal data or ordering products).
4. Use data validation rules to aid customers in entering their information and choosing accommodations and services.
5. Create nested functions that will suppress any error messages that may show when a field is empty.
6. Use defined names in formulas and functions.
7. On the lookup tables' worksheet, create a lookup table that contains at least ten room types with a minimum of three pieces of information about each room, including a unique room type code. This table will serve as your room selection list, and should be named accordingly.
8. On the reservation form, create a text logo using WordArt or another application for your form. Create or use an appropriate picture on your form that relates to your hotel.
9. On the reservation form, use lookup functions that will pull information from your selection list lookup table; the lookup should be based on the room type code.
10. On the form, calculate the sales tax and accommodations tax for all reservations (use a sales tax rate of 7.00% and accommodations tax of 3.0%). These taxes should be imposed on the room rate and services; do not tax the tax!
11. On the form, have a location for the room location. Use appropriate functions to determine the applicable room location costs using the information listed in the room location table.
12. On the form, have a location for the special accommodations. Use appropriate functions to determine the applicable special accommodations costs using the information listed in the Special Accommodations table.
13. On the form, create three macros with labeled buttons that will automate tasks for your customers:
a. Macro 1 - Prints a copy of the reservation for the customer's records in PDF format.
b. Macro 2 - Transfers the relevant data to the reservation summary worksheet, which keeps track of all reservations made during a single session.
c. Macro 3 - Clears the reservation form and is ready for the next customer.
14. Create two test forms with test data on separate worksheets and name them Test 1 and Test 2. These should be copies of the original form, and the original form should be blank.
15. Design a reservation summary sheet to collect the information from your reservation forms. As each reservation is made, appropriate information will be transferred to succeeding rows in the summary table so the reservations can be tracked. Use appropriate titles and column headings for the data that is transferred.
