From its inception in 2001, the new Accenture was a large organization with $11 billion in annual revenues, 75,000 employees, and more than fifty offices around the world. An effective IT infrastructure was key to integrating the new global corporation: knowledge had to flow freely across country lines and industry practices, and timely, accurate financial information was required to meet the more stringent demands made on a publicly traded company. To support its launch as a newly independent business enterprise, Accenture had the right to use Andersen's technology infrastructure for one year.
