Purpose: The purpose of this discussion is to display and describe effective processes of creating IEP meetings with families and developing strategies to include students in the IEP process.

Directions:

Watch both videos provided and fill out the video observation form for each.

Create an instructional manual designed for teachers and parents explaining key components of the IEP. Be sure to include the following:

I. Definition of IEP
II. Overview of what the IEP entails
III. Brief description of each component
IV. Examples of services (at least 10) outlined in the IEP

Watch two YouTube videos "A non-collaborative IEP meeting" and "Example of a successful IEP meeting" of mock IEP meetings. Complete the video observation form for each IEP video.
