Infographic Assignment -

The topics for the inforgraphic are "children online habit in UK".

Description: You will create an infographic "poster" to illustrate an approved data set. Use charts, graphs and pictures to tell a story about the data set and to communicate the key points in an easy to understand visual format.

  • Identify a suitable subset of data that can easily be presented in a one page infographic (e.g. data from one Mintel report)
  • Construct your infographic using the easily, Piktochart or any other suitable software programme of your choice.
  • Export your infographic as a PDF file which should be submitted in the normal way via turnitin.
  • Choose suitable charts and graphics to communicate your data e.g. is it a comparison? Are you showing a change over time? Are you showing connections and relationships? Are you illustrating a hierarchy?
  • Consider your use of text and background colour to make an appealing and readable infographic.
  • Use appropriate devices including layout and arrows to tell a story and draw your reader though the data.
  • Include the source(s) of your data in a short bibliography text.
  • There will be a dedicated feedback grid designed to assess the infographics which is available on MOLE.

You MUST reference all images used in your infographic

If you just have a couple of large images, then put a little text reference (just like you would for a report or article) next to the image as a text box, and list the full references with the other references in a bibliography text. This can be placed at the bottom of the infographic or in a separate page.

If you have used a lot of little images/photos which were produced by different people, so it would look messy if you put the in-text reference next to each of them, then list the references for the images/photos separately at the end (so - one reference list for photos/images; one for any other sources). If you have several sections, and each section has a number of images/photos, then group the image/photo references according to the section they are in.

If you use company logos, then at the end (with the reference list) say that "Logos are registered to …" and list the companies. For example, if you had used the KFC logo and the Pizza Express logo, say "Logos are registered to KFC and Pizza Express". Icons and graphics that are included as part of the software package (e.g. shapes, figures, graphs, charts) do not need to be separately referenced. Please state (in the same place as the reference list) "Clip art from…. " e.g. "Clip art from Piktochart". This is particularly important if it is not obvious that the image is an internal icon. If you have created images yourself using a programme like Adobe Illustrator or Paint Shop Pro please state in the bibliography “Images created by the author in [programme]”
