Directions:
1. Look for books, journal articles, magazine and newspaper articles, reliable Internet sources, and community agencies that can give you the following information:
• General information on the frequency of domestic violence and abuse either on campus at Michigan State University, in East Lansing or the Greater Lansing area, OR your home town (specify).
• Warning signs and characteristics of various types of abuse.
• Very specific information regarding where an adult in an abuse relationship can go for help and advice in the area of your choice.
2. Once you gain all the necessary information, create an infographic. Feel free to use Piktochart (https://piktochart.com/)and/or other free software to do so. Your infographic must give information for all 4 categories:
1) Frequency of abuse and domestic violence,
2) The warning signs and characteristics of abusive relationships,
3) The ways a counselor or community agency can help, and
4) A list of agencies (with addresses and phone numbers), hotlines, and other resources (both local and national) that can help in such situations.
On the bottom of your infographic, make sure to include an equivalent of a reference page using APA style (reference list is sufficient, no need for in-text citation unless if you want to put them).
3. Submit the infographic to dropbox as PDF, JPEG, or other picture file format. Make sure your text is readable in your file.
The infographic must be of quality that can be printed and given to young adults or put online. Try to create an informative and useful infographic. Think about actual and possible future victims. What do you think will be useful? How could you, as an individual who is taking a course on human development, help others? High-quality work may be shared with the chair of the Department of HDFS.
