You work for a heavily regulated and unionized transit authority located in a large urban center in Canada. As part of a large H.R., Health, Wellness, and Disability Management team, you support various workers, from skilled trades to transit operators, fare collectors, customer service, and administrative staff. A majority of workers are mid-life or older males, some with chronic health issues (type 2 diabetes, muscular-skeletal problems, back injuries, and prostate cancer). Additionally, over the past 7 years, frontline employees (operators and customer service staff) have been dealing with an increasingly stressed and aggressive public, and incidents of violence, aggression, and harassment from customers have increased, driving up stress and strain, work refusals, and disability claims.
