Please, response to this following post at a minimum of 150 words in length

  1. One of the many reasons why people smoke is because it makes a person "look cool" according to the video provided. People also tend to smoke cigarettes because they decrease stress and decrease anxiety. The Mental Health Foundation explains that, "Nicotine creates an immediate sense of relaxation, so people smoke in the belief it reduces stress and anxiety. This feeling is temporary and soon gives way to withdrawal symptoms and increased cravings." This shows us some of the reasons why people may choose to smoke and fall into temporary satisfactory feelings.
  2. One theme presented through the ads in the video was that people should stop smoking because it is overall very detrimental habit. A second theme that was presents through the ads in the video was that smoking also has a negative effect on others around you, so not only are you causing harm to yourself but you are also causing harm to others.
  3. The targeted audience in these commercials would be mainly people who smoke or indulge in nicotine consumption. In addition, these commercials could serve as a warning to the consequences of smoking and target others such as non-smokers and nicotine users to stay away from these bad habits.
  4. In my opinion the ads that showed how smoking and nicotine addiction directly came at the cost of your health was very impactful, along with the commercial that showed the kids (family members) being affected by the smoking habits of their parents (family members). I felt this way because this shows how consuming these contaminants into your body directly comes at the cost of your health which is one of the only things in this world that is priceless and should be of most value to us, knowing that our health is irreplaceable. Furthermore, the commercials showing how ones smoking habits affect their loved ones was effective by showing that the negative affects of smoking don't stop with oneself and that you are negatively affecting your loved ones as well.
