For the project, you will:

Think Critically about Current Events: Application of Sociological Concepts

This assignment is designed to give students the opportunity to define, describe, and apply key terms or concepts in sociology to current events while using their creativity. Students are asked to address the problem of bias. It addresses the FKL dimensions of Critical Thinking, Inquiry-based Learning, Human and Cultural Diversity, and Ethical Perspectives.

Step 1: Choose your favorite sociological topic that we have covered in this class. Which one is your favorite topic ? The Self ? Emotions and Social Life ? Mental Health and Illness? Or another topic? Pick the topic that inspire you the most.

Step 2: Think critically about this topic, and connect it to appropriate sociological key terms, concepts, and theories that we have covered in class. Additionally, try to think outside the box. Give a future direction in which a sociological research could be done on that topic.

Step 3: Generate an art piece such as a poem, song, painting, a photography, a PowerPoint presentation, YouTube video, clothing piece, an object, or some other creative presentation summarizing your findings.
