The middle of the shaft is twisted through an angle α, the remainder of the shaft through an angle proportional to the distance from the nearest end, and then the shaft is released from rest. Determine the subsequent motion expressed as θ(x,t). Problem 4 of Section 8.2 gives the appropriate wave equation.
