1. Select one of the following three vision disorders for the topic of your S'mores Newsletter:

- Astigmatism

- Presbyopia

- Hypertensive retinopathy

The following website below can be used as an initial introduction to the above disorders, but the information should not be used as part of your assignment beyond the initial definition of the disorder. You will want to find at least one more academic, credible, resource on the disorder to support the information you include in your assignment. Click on the following website link: Healthline Media.

2. Create a S'mores newsletter. Create a handout that a medical professional could use as a visual tool to provide a briefing for a caretaker of a patient who has undergone damage to their sense of vision and experiences your chosen disorder.

3. Explain the following in your handout:

i. Briefly provide an overview of the organ(s) associated with normal vision and the role of its structure in processing vision then describe the abnormalities in processing vision with the chosen disorder.

ii. Discuss the perception of vision and how vision is processed from detection of stimuli to processing in the brain.

iii. Explain how we perceive objects and scenes. Include a discussion of the Gestalt Approach.

iv. Discuss how vision is affected by your chosen disorder and compare it to normal vision.

v. Discuss what treatment is available for the patient with the disorder in vision.

vi. Include at least 3 Graphics associated with vision such as a diagram/picture of an organ associated with vision, a pathway of detection of vision, or a picture "illustrating" the sense of vision. A title and a 1-2 sentence summary should be included with each graphic.

vii. Utilize the knowledge gained from the assigned reading in addition to at least one other reliable resource.
