Create a Selection System

  • Choose a job that you are interested in and somewhat familiar with (you may choose your current job).
  • Develop a selection system for the job specifying the procedures you will use to measure KSAOs.
  • Give appropriate consideration to the elements of the selection process as described in class and in the textbook.
  • Your work should include (for my reference, so that it is clear you are measuring the correct Tasks/KSAOs):
    • Job Title
    • Brief Summary of Tasks
    • Short list of top 3-5 KSAOs

This should be a bulleted list and should only take approximately 1/2 page.

  • The Selection Tools you will use in your selection system.  For each tool, address the following:
    • Discuss how you will develop the tool (you'll create it, you'll purchase it, etc.)
    • Describe when in the process it will occur and how it will be administered (e.g., online, proctored by HR, responsibility of the hiring manager, etc.)
    • Discuss rough costs/person hours required to administer each tool
    • Discuss concerns about reliability and validity (e.g., it lacks inter-rater reliability, or face validity, etc.)
    • If your tool uses scored questions, provide at least one original sample item for each (e.g., a test question, an interview question, an item that might be on a BIB, etc.)
      • Do not copy questions from other sources.

Expect to take about 3-4 pages (double-spaced, 12 point font) to complete this assignment.
