Create a scenario based on a fictional character using angel dust. Give a brief description of the individual you have met in your office in your role as a substance use professional. Be creative however, the description should include some unique identifiers that an individual with an active hallucinogen use disorder would present with. For example, an individual who has recently used heroin may present in my office lethargic and falling asleep.

In your response, identify what role you would play as the substance use professional?

(1) Please provide a substance use disorder diagnosis including any criteria and specifiers. Include the criteria of assessment that was utilized to support the diagnosis (3). What screening and assessment tools would best be utilized for this individual? Why?

(2) How would you use SBIRT with this client?

(3) What interventions would you implement? Why?

(4) What type of treatment would you recommend and why (ie: rehab, outpatient, etc.)?

(5) Describe withdrawal symptoms the person may exhibit using the substance/substances of choice?

(6) Pick a stage of change for this client and provide details that support why they are in this stage of change. What are some relapse prevention strategies that you would recommend? Why?

(7) Provide a brief treatment plan which identifies a problem, goals, interventions, and plans for ongoing treatment services.
