Assignment:

Café Sunshine is a fictional coffee and sandwich shop in the fictional US city of Seaside. The café sells excellent coffee drinks, house-made muffins and cookies, and delicious fresh sandwiches at reasonable prices. Café Sunshine is an independent operation, whose main competitors are nearby sandwich shops and Starbucks.

Café Sunshine is located in the business district of the city, and its target market is people who work in the area. It is open Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 4:00pm.

The café is extremely busy in the morning, selling coffee, muffins, and breakfast sandwiches. Business also picks up from 2:00-3:30pm, when customers come in for afternoon coffee and treats. However, business is a little slow at lunchtime. The owners would like to increase lunch business. They have asked you, a marketing communications expert, for help.

Your task: Design a sales promotion program with the purpose of increasing lunch sales.

Instructions:

  1. Create a sales promotion campaign using one of the following tools: samples, premiums, or contest/sweepstakes/game. Describe the campaign in detail. Include a length of time for the promotion.
  2. Explain your method for measuring and evaluating the results.
  3. Design a plan to advertise the campaign on social media. Choose your platform (such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter), and describe your messages. You do not have to include pictures, but describe the images that you would use in your messages.
  4. You should also promote the sales promotion campaign at point-of-sale, to existing customers. Briefly (1-3 sentences) describe how you would advertise this sales promotion campaign inside Café Sunshine.
