Question: So far in the course, we have discussed the use of membrane processes for treating aqueous streams (e.g. desalinating seawater) or purifying gases (e.g. separation of O2 and N 2 ). However, there is extensive interest, by both academia and industry, in the development of membrane processes specifically designed for separating organic solvents - for example the separation of a mixture of toluene and tri-isopropylbenzene (TIPB). Using the spreadsheet in the 'Assignment 1' folder on Avenue titled 'Data for separation of toluene and tri-isopropylbenzene (TIPB)', create a 'Robeson-like' plot to show the performance tradeoff that exists for the various membrane materials that have been tested to date.
