Assignment - Same Experiences Different Outcomes Discussion
Description - It can be natural to discredit the feelings of others if we have had similar experiences but it led to different outcomes. For example, if we were spanked as a disciplinary measure a child we might think, "I was raised like that and I turned out OK." However, it is important to remember each person's experience is different and it is this perception of the experience that can lead to trauma.
For this discussion, identify a possible adverse experience and describe how the experience and surrounding risk factors might lead to trauma. Then, describe how the same experience might not lead to trauma for others based on their protective factors and perspective.
In your response post, discuss the strategies an educator can use to create a responsive program for both scenarios.
