Assignment Summary
In this assignment, you will have the opportunity to synthesize on your learning. You will select a youth featured in a documentary from the list on these assignment guidelines. The main learning objective is for you to apply some foundational knowledge from the course to the life experience of a youth. Using the documentary as an entry point, you will explore and complicate the ways the social service work professional might help or support this youth. Later, you will hand in your prepared written reflection/synthesis paper. The assignment will be divided as follows:
1. Creative Response of the three models of engaging with youth
2. Reflection/Synthesis Paper on the process of creation and your own learning
STEP 1: WATCH ONE OF THE FOUR DOCUMENTARY FILMS BELOW
Possible Clients: Tanvir or Vicky
Indictment: The Crimes of Shelly Chartier. available from the CBC website

STEP 2: CREATE A CREATIVE RESPONSE
After you have watched the documentary. the next task for you is to engage creatively in the three models of working with youth. Apply
the different models we discussed in Week 1 to the youth in the video and the product is three different creative products that relate to the youth and movie you selected. You will to apply the client centered social work model to one youth (a client you chose) and the other two models or more meso or macro in nature. Everything should relate particularly to your documentary.
Remember to keep this assignment to scale, all you need to is ask yourself the questions in the 'questions asked' column and think of a creative way you could represent that you understand the three models. Have fun, take risks, and make sure you demonstrate that you understand the difference between the three models. You will be sharing this piece with your peers in class and also submitting it to your instructor to grade. Here are some examples:
- Create 3 different memes that could be shared on social media
- Draw a mind map showing how the 3 models connect to the documentary
- Create an infographic showing how the 3 models connect to the documentary
- Create a poster for rally for the social justice model, a poster for psycho educational group for the client centered model and a
townhall invitation for the community development model
- Create 3 different comic strips (one connected to each model)
