Too many people in the house-keeping crew are not honouring their responsibilities and are abusing their privilege. Too many people are arriving late and/or quitting work early. People have also been taking liberties with their 15-minute break periods. The consequence of this behaviour will be a new clocking policy. I have had a timeclock installed in the maintenance garage. You must all clock in with sufficient time before the start of your shift so that you are fully prepared to begin your duties at the official start time of your shift. You will not clock out until the official end of your shift time.

The Head of Grounds Maintenance and Housekeeping, who is wholly responsible for all aspects of grounds and building maintenance and cleaning, and who in this department is equal in authority with the assistant manager, is furious about the message. The Head knows about some people's minor infractions, but she is also an excellent leader who creates a positive work atmosphere and excellent morale, so people in fact work very hard to meet her expectations and typically succeed in doing so.
