This plan will include clear goals and strategies to develop or improve the skills that you will need to be a successful leader. The final plan will be a living document that will change and grow with you during your academic and professional career.
For this assignment, you will write a self-improvement plan in FIRST PERSON, including your personal mission and vision statements, your professional values, and areas of success and areas that you would like to develop. A personal vision and mission statement should be general enough that it encompasses all aspects, but specific enough that real-world actions can be taken from it. A personal vision and mission statement is much like a code of ethics and conduct, infused with personal goals that govern values, attitude, beliefs, and actions. Keep in mind that this document will continuously transform as you further your degree and career.
Regarding your professional values, by considering your chosen Ed.D. concentration (e.g., Higher Education Leadership, Organizational Leadership, Reading), how will the rapid advancements have made in communication and technology, impact leadership in your professional field?
In the Areas of Excellence, define your current strengths in the areas of leadership, communication, and technology (2-3 strengths in each category). Highlight your strengths as Areas of Excellence and provide a detailed example of how you have utilized these strengths in a professional setting. Please conduct research in order to select, complete, and analyze at least six surveys in these three areas to assist you in your writings. You must select two surveys in leadership, two surveys in communication, and two surveys in technology. Your faculty member may upload many surveys in the Assignment link under Assignment 2 in your Canvas page. However, as a researcher, you must conduct your own research regarding other surveys as well. Communicate with your individual faculty member.
In the Areas of Development, in which you would like to improve, define your perceived limitations in the areas of leadership, communication, and technology (2-3 areas of development in each category). Explain why you consider each a limitation and why you think it will be valuable to improve these areas. Follow the exact directions as the Areas of Excellence.
You are to prepare a doctoral-level paper, at least seven full pages of content, plus a title page, and a references page. Since this assignment is written from your perspective, you will write in first person; there are at least 12 scholarly references (last seven years) required to validate your responses.
Current scholarly sources can be repeated throughout this assignment to synthesize your content. For "every" section, three current scholarly sources are required to synthesize and validate your claims. In addition, you will complete and analyze your two researched/selected surveys, which will be part of your narrative. You will analyze the surveys regarding how they align or do not align with your thoughts; however, you must write more than just the survey scores. You can utilize the two leadership surveys in both leadership areas, the two communication surveys in both communication areas, and the two technology surveys in both technology areas.
