LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Apply basic principles of management to the use of materials, plant and labour on construction projects.
2. Identify the issues involved in securing productivity gains In construction.
3. Produce programmes for low complexity projects using appropriate manual techniques.
4. Use project planning software to generate master programmes for simple construction or design projects.
PROPOSAL SECTIONS
Your proposal should include the following:
Step 1- Executive Summary/Introduction (approximately 1 paragraph)
The Introduction is the most important section of the proposal - it will either get your reader's attention or send them to the next proposal. To be effective, you want to outline the proposal and convince the reader that your proposal should be accepted. Specifically:

B. Provide a short description of the project, including what you propose, who It will benefit. D. Strong concluding statement.
Step 2 - Project Description (Maximum one Page)
This section defines the 'Holed objectives, describes the method of solution, and defines staffing and administrative requirements. Include the following sections (each of these sections should have a separate section heading and may have more than one paragraph).
1 Objectives State your objectives as measurable outcomes of the solution. Be specific - make sure your solution is achievable within a specific time frame and measurable.
2 Method - Describe the specific action Items (actions that need to be taken in order to meet the objectives). Answer the following questions: How, When, and Why. 3. Management Plan - Present "Time Plan" Only in your project.
Step 3 - Conclusion (Approximately 1 paragraph)
Review your proposal briefly. Restate what you want to do and why it's important.
PROPOSAL FORMAT
Follow the guidelines mentioned below during writing your report:
The report should have a Title Page. Title Page should contain the following information.
• Title
• Class
• Student name
• Student ID
• Use page numbers
Use your own words on writing, Times New Roman font size 12 Heading should be with Font Size 14, Bold, Underline
Note:
Two pages are enough to write the proposal.
You have to read the coursework carefully before preparing your proposal.
TASK:
The following project case is exercise that can be solved individually. In the project, students will have hands-on experience in developing an integrated framework for the planning, scheduling, resource management, project costs and project control.
Data:
In the following project (Figure 1), a simple warehouse is to be constructed. The building consists of a receiving area, shipping, order picking, order assembly area, storage, miscellaneous area and office. After 10 weeks of starting the construction, the project planner has reviewed the work progress of the activities in the project. The objectives are to prepare a realistic bid and prepare complete plan, follow the project plan, monitor actual site execution and keep track of resources, compare actual versus planned progress and take corrective actions at any atarsc resource bank involves crane, excavator, material, and labor resources are given in the attached "ENGG 0004_Counework-Data_SUMMER It Excel sheet. List of project activities, durations, logical relationships, and list of required resources are given In Table 1, On the other hand, the actual data obtained from the site Is given In Table 2.

Requirements:
1. Construct Gantt chart and Activity on Node networks manually and use Microsoft Project to construct both of them (after changing the default format) with detailed discussion.
2. Present and discuss the scheduling output (e.g. project duration, critical path, critical tasks (change the format of the critical tasks), activities times (ES, U. LS, LF) and floats (TF, FF).
3. Discuss and draw the resources (Crane, labour, materials, and excavator) profiles (histogram) that are needed to accomplish the work and discuss the project duration before and after levelling.
4. Discuss and print the Earned Value Table and the Tracking Gantt Chart by using Ms Project.
5. It is required to calculate BCWS, BCWP, ACWP, CV, and SV for the project manually, comment on the progress of the project and compare it with Ms Project results.
6. If you were asked to manage several small projects at the same time, what are the most important factors that you should consider as you develop your plan and schedule?
7. As a project manager, what options you have if the project schedule exceeds the required completion date?
Report Format
• The size limit: Normally, contain your report in 15-20 pages of written text plus additional pages for Figures (index).
Follow specified spacing. Generally use 1.5 x line spacing unless advised.
• Start with the title page (including your name) or student number as requested.
• Include your own field photographs. It is generally better to position figures within the text rather than group them at the end of the report.
• Give a sequential number to all figures and tables (Fig. 1, Fig. 2, Fig. 3, Table 1, Table 2, etc.)
• Add a brief, informative caption to the figures and to the tables as well.
Sections of the Report
The Report should contain the following sections:
- Introduction
- Your Deliverables

• Outline the case and focus on its significance (problem statement),
• Introduce the project
• How has the work been done?
• Give the general plan of the report.
2. Your Deliverables (maximum 15 page)
• Constructing the Gantt chart and finding requirements.
• Assigning the required resources (materials, labor, crane, and excavator).
• Leveling the resources and solve the problem associated with a limited resource.
• Tracking the progress of the project during the construction.
• The output of the Microsoft Project (Bar chart, Earned Value Table, Network diagram, etc.)
• Manual calculations
• Discussion
3. Conclusions (maximum 1 page)
State briefly what are the major achievements of your work?
4. References
Use Harvard referencing system as per our college rules.

GUIDELINES:
Folluw the guidelines mentioned below for your assignment.
Assignment should have a Title Page. Title Page should contain the following Information.
• Assignment Name
• Class
• Student name
• Student ID
Use page numbers
Assignment should be typed in your own words and computer typed using Times New Roman font size 12.
Heading should be with Font Size 14, Bold, Underline
Use Diagrams and Examples to explain your topic.

• Your report should be submitted as soft copy (.doc formats) the other hand, a hard copy on A3 paper for the Gantt chart (max 5 marks out of 100) should be handed over to the instructor.
• All assessments should be marked out of 100 marks and scaled down to the corresponding assessment weightage as given in the assessment matrix; however the complexity of the assessment shall remain as per that weightage. For e.g. coursework have a weightage of 50 will be set out of 100 and the corresponding answers will be evaluated out of 1.00 marks. If the student scores 75 marks for this test, then his/her actual mark component for this assessment will be 37.5 out of 50.
