Question: For the essay one is supposed to find the same song sung by two different artist. I have chosen I'll be there by Mariah Carey and Jackson 5. We are supposed to compare and contrast the two versions and find out whose version was better by reasoning of tone, mood, vocals, instruments etc and create a persuasive essay explaining why with evidence. The beginning should provide a short gist of the meaning behind the song and chose 3 points for discussion.

My previous thesis was as follows "Although Jackson's 5 original version of "I'll be there" provided such a beautiful rendition, Mariah Carey's cover outperforms the original with it's powerful vocals, R&B genre, and the ability to carry and support the meaning of the song in a beautiful and understanding way." but it got a lower grade than I expected. She had commented that both versions were an R&B genre therefore it could not be a point of discussion.
