The purpose of these labs is to help students seamless work together with various GIS software capabilities and real time data as well as produce a meaningful interaction with the user.

This can be achieved using the following in resonance with each other.
1. Real-Time data from the environment (GPS/Sensors/Temperature);
2. Storing that information in a GI database;
3. Processing that information for meaningful output on the screen;
4. Creating a solution for the screen/projection device that can ensure a well-behaved user interaction.
In our lab we were usually supposed to work with ArcMap geoprocessing capabilities and these sensors. However, due to the unavailability of license its wise to switch to a free and opensource processing platform.

Project outline
One of the big outcomes of GIS is the extension of the ability of an individual to produce real-time working solution. Hence, the focus here will be on creating a comprehensive system that can do so whilst equally using a GIS software for processing that data.
1. The project is designed to monitor the lakes are NUST;
2. The first task will be to map these lakes using a Phantom IV;
3. The second is to create a mechanism to monitor environmental attributed of the lake using an inhouse equipment. These attributes will be;
a. Lake water temperature;
b. Air Temperature;
c. Water PH;
d. And soil moisture levels;
e. Water level changes;
4. The third task is to program all of these sensors to do that efficiently;
5. The fourth task is to configure a LAPP server;
6. The fifth task is to send data from these sensors (all together) wirelessly to a remote server;
7. The sixth task is to automate geoprocessing tasks on the data received from these sensors (this will include all tasks mentioned in the lab).

Requirements:
1. List the components on a Phantom IV drone and its capabilities (max 5)
2. List the sensors that you need to engage on the field. Also justify your choices of sensors (make sure you do not copy your neighbor's work) and mention their source for buying and prices
3. How do you understand that these sensors can be sufficient? Can we add some more sensors?
4. What programming utilities can we use. Please do not say Arduino IDE because there can be many good alternatives.
5. What is LAPP? What are its capabilities and why is it suited?
6. What mechanism can be used to send data from the sensor to your server?
