Problem : In the following steps, you open a workbook, create a macro to add a column to a worksheet, assign the macro to a button on the Quick Access Toolbar, and then excute the macro.
To complete this assignment, you must start with the file "Finkle Trinkets Start.xlsx".
Perform the following tasks:
1. If the Developer tab is not displayed on the Ribbon, then activate it as explained in the course notes and during the lecture.
2. Change the document properties, to include your name as Author, "Project 2, Q3" as the Title, COSC1702A or COSC1702B as the Subject, and appropriate keywords.
3. Create a macro that adds a column before the Totals column by doing the following:
a. Click the Record Macro button (Developer Tab | Code group).
b. When the Record Macro dialog box appears, name the macro AddColumn, assign the shortcut key Ctrl+Shift+N, store the macro in this workbook, enter your name in the Description box, and then click the OK button to start the macro recording process.
c. Select cell C3, click Insert Sheet Columns (Home tab | Cells group | Insert button arrow), select cell C6 and sum the cell range C4:C5, set the column width to 15, and then click the Stop Recording button (Developer tab | Code group).
4. In the newly added column, enter Necklaces in C3, 14,279 in C4, and 14,350 in C5.
5. Click the Macros button (Developer tab | Code group) to display the Macro dialog box. Run the AddColumn macro to add a coumn. Enter the following data: Earrings, 15,765, and 18,110. Click the Macros button again, select AddColumn macro, and then click the Edit button (Macro dialog box).
When the Visual Basic Editor displays the macro, click File on the menu bar and then click Print. Bring this printout with you to give to the TA during your demonstration.
6. Right-click the Quick Access Toolbar and then click Customize Quick Access Toolbar. When the Excel Options dialog box is displayed, click the 'Choose commands from' box arrow and choose Macros.
Click AddColumn, click the Add button, and then click the OK buton to close the Excel Options dialog box.
7. Run the macro as follows: (a) click the AddColumn button on the Quck Access Toolbar, and enter Bracelets, 12,320, and 14,250 for the column values; and (b) press Ctrl+Shift+N , and enter Charms, 13,115, and 17,500 fo rthe column values.
8. Protect the worksheet using the password macrosRule.
9. Save the workbook as "yourname-Project2-Q3" where "yourname" is your last name. Remember that this file contains a macro and must be a macro compatible format.
10. Submit your file to CMS.
