CASE SCENARIOS INSTRUCTIONS-
Responses must be at least 150 words for Part 1: Focus Assignment and at least 150 words for Part 2: Self-Evaluation. Part 2: Self-Evaluation must also include at least 1 citation from the textbook. Each Case Scenario must follow current APA format and include a title page and reference page.
Objective: To create a list of behaviors to inform the creation of a behavioral intervention plan and to evaluate that list.
Scenario: Tanya is a first-grade student in your class who is struggling in many ways. From the moment she walks into the classroom in the morning she is bouncing from one place to another. Even during center time, Tanya wanders from center to center but is difficult to engage in activities. When the morning meeting begins, she is often the most difficult student to get to sit on the mat and even once she is seated, she quickly is up walking around again. The combination of these behaviors and their regularity concern you. You are meeting with a mixed group of teachers from your school to discuss students of concern and will be reviewing Tanya's behaviors in order to design a behavioral intervention plan for your class.
Part A: Focus Assignment
1. Create a list of Tanya's behaviors that you would like to see improved in the classroom. Identify two priority behaviors from your list that should be included in the behavioral intervention plan. Explain why you think those are the first ones that should be addressed for Tanya's success.
2. Be sure to read the SELF-EVALUATION section below to guide your thinking. Write your self-evaluation after you have completed your list of behaviors.
3. Review the assessment rubric to see how your assignment and self-evaluation will be graded.
Part 2: Self-Evaluation
1. For each item on your list:
a. Explain how this item addresses the issues in the scenario.
b. Give evidence from the chapter supporting this item (with citations).
2. Describe and justify how your list would improve teaching and learning in the scenario.
