2. Go for a long walk around your neighborhood. As you walk, pay attention to all the things that you normally overlook. Create a list of every single thing that you normally over look. Take your time. Make the list as long as possible.

3. When you get home, read over your list. "Star" the items that stand out to you the most--the ones that are most surprising or interesting or that evoke unexpected emotions in you. Read over your starred items and for each one, write a sentence or two that tries to get at why you starred it.

4. Using your lists and notes as a starting place, write a catalog poem.
