Once you have read about parenting styles and problem solving, you will create a list of 5 ways you can support both the family and the child to learn problem solving for both at home and in the classroom. Engaging the family is critical when creating strategies that support children. 

List each strategy and how you would support the family.

For Example;

Feeling Cards: Providing families training and providing feeling cards that mimic the ones used in the classroom, families will be supported and encouraged to provide strategies for young children. 

Example: 

1. Show & Tell: Will encourage young students to share items or objects from home. This will get the family involved because the family can discuss what will be shared and brought to school when the child returns to class.
2. Short Questionnaire: Is a great way to learn more about the parents' point of view of their child's behaviors at home, and how well their child can work with others. This short questionnaire will also get parents to share their goals for their child's developments.
3. Reading Journal: Will allow parents and young students to read together at home. Parents and students can actively write down the book's titles and log the minutes of their reading time. Reading can help the child develop empathy towards others and enhance their memory and understanding.
4. Treasure Hunt: This activity can be done with the whole family. Young students must find the list of objects around the home; collect them all and bring them back to class. This activity will promote communication and team building skills at home and inside of the classroom.
5. All About Me Poster: This activity will encourage parents to get involve with their child and fill in pictures about the student's interest and the family's dynamic. This activity will also inspire young students to want to display and share the things on their posters that they like about themselves and their family with their class peers.
