Problem Statements Instructions
Using one of the topics from your Assignment 1, create a general problem statement and a specific problem statement. In order to do this, you will need to do a little research on the topic chosen, and use those resources within your statements. The Dissertation Manual for the DBA program states the following regarding problem statements:
The problem statement must begin, "The general problem to be addressed is...". The problem statement represents a gap between existing literature in the doctoral candidate's cognate field and actual business practice. The problem statement describes the overall research problem being addressed and indicates why it is important to the practice of management. State the general problem first and then state the specific problem being considered. The general problem is the overarching business problem being addressed while the specific problem is a narrowly focused sub-set of the general problem that once studied, provides insight into the general problem.
